about.
Ilektra Arsenidou is a researcher, dance and theatre practitioner, and theatrologist based in London and Athens. Her background includes studying dance at the Hellenic National School of Dance and the Professional Dance School Rallou Manou, and theatre studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, as well as receiving a full scholarship for her studies in acting at the Theatre of Changes in Athens. She recently completed an MRes degree in Performance and Choreography from the University of Roehampton in London.
Her research interests center around a broad range of social phenomena, including female empowerment, gender equality, and the impacts of social norms and stereotypes on female performance. She believes in the integral connection between theory and practice and explores both aspects in her work. Her current creative practice involves exploring somatic ways to coexisting and cocreating through sound, which she calls "sonic physical dramaturgy." This approach allows her to redefine characters, stories, and texts using a choreographic and theatrical lens.
In addition to her academic and creative pursuits, she is also expanding her knowledge in the field of sex education through a course at the Aegean University of Greece.
